Impact100 Wichita Falls Announces Grant Recipient for 2021
(WICHITA FALLS, TX), June 10th, 2021—Impact100 Wichita Falls, a women’s philanthropic organization, tonight announced the recipient of their “Big Give” grant. First Step, Inc. was selected from among four finalists to receive the $81,000 award. The announcement is second grant from the group’s collective giving model for transformational community impact
First Step, Inc. received the grant for their “Offender Accountability Program” (Health and Wellness Focus Area). This project would fund the recruitment, training and expenses of facilitators for the accredited Battering Intervention and Prevention Program (BIPP). Working with the court system and law enforcement agencies, First Step estimates up to 100 offenders could enter this program every six months, which requires the completion of a 26-week course to teach and equip offenders better ways of navigating relationships. With a 60% success rate, this program has led to cultural change in domestic abuse and a reduction in violence against victims in other communities.
Each of the 81 members of Impact100 had the opportunity to hear from the finalists during the Impact group’s annual meeting, which was held at Castaway Cove Waterpark. Other finalists include the Child Care Partners, Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra, and Wichita Falls Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Twenty-three applications for the grant award were received this year. To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be 501(c)3 organizations from Archer, Clay, Wichita, and Wilbarger counties.
Impact100 Wichita Falls is continuing plans to grow the membership to offer a $100,000 grant, with a goal of, one day, awarding multiple $100,000 grants in five focus areas of Arts & Culture; Education; Environment; Recreation & Preservation, Family; and Health and Wellness.
